Overview of Required Training

Enhance your programs by participating in cutting-edge training.

When you officially adopt the Standards by becoming a Provisional Member, you pledge that your organization will be involved in three forms of training:
  1. A one-time Standards Introductory Workshop (SIW). This SOE-sponsored 6-8 hour interactive workshop will help you learn how to achieve all seven Standards, and how to form and manage your own Peer Review process.
  2. Attendance no less than once every three years at one of the on-going STM Training Conferences. Some conferences are devoted entirely to training in STM, while other conferences provide choices of several tracks (one track of which is STM). The conferences are sponsored by other groups or organizations (not by the SOE).
  3. Completion of a Peer Review (PR) at least once every three years. A Peer Review involves forming a Peer Review Team of 3-5 STM personnel from at least three different SOE member organizations who perform an evaluation of your STM program to encourage, motivate, and challenge you toward excellence.
When possible, the SIWs and STM Training Conferences will be piggy-backed onto one another to help you save time and money.
