The U.S. Standards of Excellence
in Short-Term Mission is a division of AESTM —
the Alliance for Excellence in Short-Term Mission — a
U.S.-based religious/education 501(c)(3) Christian nonprofit
organization.
Structurally, the Standards Steering Committee reports to
the AESTM Board. Operationally, the Standards Steering
Committee has been commissioned with full authority to guide,
monitor, and direct the SOE, to determine levels of membership,
to oversee the process for determining whether a given member
remains in compliance, and to determine the
operational/administrative structure needed to administer the
SOE.
The Standards Steering Committee is a volunteer committee,
consisting of two AESTM board-appointed members, and an
additional 8-15 people from various churches, agencies, and
schools across the U.S. The Standards Steering Committee which
